The prophecy before the four races in Norrland came true – the weekend in Fällfors could be decisive when drivers who collected points in all four races could draw away in the standings.
In what was to be a challenging competition for Robin Knutsson in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, he got a tough start when he drove off in Friday’s second qualifying session at the Drivecenter Arena in Fällfors. With destroyed tires, he was forced to start on a new set of tires for race 2 and was thus punished by starting last on the grid.
In Friday’s first qualifying session, Robin had placed 9th and managed to get up to 5th in race 1. In race 2, it turned out that an accident rarely comes alone when, after starting last, he was forced to retire when a wheel nut broke.
On Saturday, a new round of qualifying was held with new qualifying sessions and double races. This time Robin was among the better drivers and qualified 6th and 7th for the two races.
In race 1, Robin had a good feeling throughout the race and finished in a solid 5th place, which became a 4th after a penalty for another driver.
For the second race, bad luck struck again and he had to break from a 7th place when a drive shaft broke.
– Tough weekend, the speed came but unfortunately a little too late and when we started to find speed for the race, we were unlucky with two mechanical DNFs. A race weekend where I learned a lot but at the same time want to forget as quickly as possible, Robin summarizes his Norrland competition.
In the summary, Robin did not lose any position but is now in 6th place with 66 points. The distance to third place in the championship has, however, grown to 28 points with three race weekends remaining. See the full table at www.carerracup.se
