Knutsson and WestCoast Racing switch focus to Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux

With two race weekends left in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, Robin Knutsson and WestCoast Racing have decided to shift focus and instead end the season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux.

Robin and the team will now race the two remaining races at Zolder in Belgium and the final at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The dates for the races are the same as for the Scandinavian series, where Robin is now 6th in the championship.

– We have decided to focus our resources on what we believe will help me develop the most, and that is to race more abroad. My results have also been better in the non-Nordic races I have raced, so when we weigh the pros and cons, it feels like the right step, says Robin about the decision to seek new challenges.

But he also takes the opportunity to appreciate the value of the experience with the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia: – During my two years in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, I have learned a lot and it has been fun, but now we are focusing on the tracks in Europe.

Last year, Robin participated in the season finale of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux at Hockenheim. A race that was his best of the year, where he finished in 4th and 5th place in the two races. This year, his best result (2nd) also came on an international stage when the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia visited the La Sarthe circuit in Le Mans. Robin’s long-term focus is on the international circuits on the continent. This decision is therefore part of his preparations for 2024.

  • Driving on the larger international circuits is what Robin wants to focus on for 2024 and beyond. That is why we in the team fully support him in his decision to end the year with the two remaining races in the Benelux series, says WestCoast Racing’s team manager Dick Jönsson Wigroth.
