Impressive run-up by Knutsson in the season finale

A month ago, Robin Knutsson and WestCoast Racing made the decision to leave the Scandinavian Porsche series with two remaining races. The goal was to seek other challenges in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux at Zolder. In his first race in the series, Robin did not quite manage to achieve his ambitious goals and this weekend it was time for the season finale at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.

In great competition and under drying conditions, Robin managed a time that did not go further than 14th starting position in the two races. However, the opportunity to get revenge came directly in race 1 on Saturday.

From his 14th starting position, Robin initially held his position. During the race, he stayed away from incidents and managed to advance to a 9th place finish.

Late on Sunday it was time for the second race. However, intense rain meant that the race was postponed.

Once the start was in a shortened race 2, an intense race began where Robin initially kept away from mistakes. During the latter part of the race he impressed greatly and advanced strongly, reaching a final 5th place when the checkered flag fell.

– Unfortunately, things didn’t go quite well in qualifying with the track drying out, but I thought we fought back quite well, especially the second race in the wet. I found grip quickly and had high self-confidence from the start and am very happy with 5th place from 14th starting position in the second race, says Robin about his races in Austria and takes the opportunity to thank the team for the past year:

– The season has flown by and I want to thank WestCoast for everything, concludes Robin, whose highlight is 2nd place in the round at Le Mans.

The season for WestCoast Racing is not quite over yet as Emma Wigroth drives the Formula Nordic final at the Jyllandsringen this weekend. Follow her and the series on social media for updates.
